Tiverton Castle Visits and ToursTiverton Castle is a wonderful, romantic and atmospheric Castle to visit and great fun for children. Since it was originally built in wood in 1106 there have been a lot of changes to the building down the ages. After 1293 it was rebuilt in stone, and then changing fashions, Civil War and climate damage have dictated further changes. The moat was filled in and the land sold off many years ago; so now there are only four acres left as an oasis of calm. WHAT TO SEE:

TestimonialsWhat recent visitors have said: "Beautifully presented inside and out. House/garden immaculate. Historical features all polished, shining, good settings. Appreciated chairs to sit on in every room. Knowledgeable guides answering queries, excellent written room guides in readable fonts and with good English." "My family and I visited Tiverton Castle last week. We had already visited Killerton and Knightshayes, both National Trust. My husband and I have visited and kept brochures of over 240 buildings in the UK. This building, not grant aided, gave us far more pleasure." "We have visited Tiverton Castle several times and each time we learn something new about the Castle and its history. It is small but beautifully preserved with lovely gardens. There is a personal feel about the property as we often have the opportunity to talk to the owner and the knowledgeable steward."
